Caching at the system level places a single copy of an object in the system cache, which is maintained on the middle tier and is available to all users. Consequently, all customization options for the object are disabled. Also, access privileges for the object will not be enforced. Examples of content that may be suitable for system-level caching include page banners and news portlets.
This help topic covers how to set up system-level caching for two objects, pages and portlets.
Notes:
To complete this task, you must have at least one of the following privileges:
Go to the page.
Switch to Edit mode.
Click Properties (for the page).
If necessary, click the Main tab to bring it forward.
Go to the Page Caching section, and select one of the following system-level page caching options:
Note: If the page that includes this portlet uses system-level caching, this portlet will use system-level caching as result. In the same way, if this portlet's Web Provider indicates system-level caching for the portlet, this portlet will use system-level caching. In these cases, you do not need to set up system-level caching for the portlet manually, nor will you be able to change the cache setting, as it will already be set.
Go to the page that contains the portlet.
Switch to Edit mode.
Next to the portlet, click
.
Next to Portlet Caching, select Cache portlet at the system level.
Click OK to return to the page.
